Highland’s effort to come back from down six runs in the sixth inning came up just short, as they fell 16-15 to Kent Roosevelt on Tuesday. The Horrnets managed eight runs in the failed comeback. Ryan Bell, Alex Dobkowski, Drew Tramonte, John Toth, Dobkowski, and Tramonte fueled the rally with RBIs.
After Kent Roosevelt scored three runs in the top of the seventh, Highland answered with three of their own. Kent Roosevelt scored when #8 singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, #22 singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, and #12 drew a walk, scoring one run. Highland then answered when Dobkowski was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Tramonte drew a walk, scoring one run, and #9 induced Toth to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
The Hornets racked up 12 hits on the day. Bell, Tramonte, and Aiden Smith all managed multiple hits for Highland. Smith, Tramonte, and Bell each collected two hits.
Carson Byrne was on the pitcher’s mound for Highland. The righthander surrendered three runs on five hits over three innings, striking out four. Noah Mendenhall, Max Wagar, and Joey Kohmann each contributed in relief.
