The Highland Athletic Department, in partnership with Akron Children’s Hospital, is pleased to welcome two new athletic trainers for the 2019-20 school year: Mike Johnson and Chrissy Bernazzoli. Both will work with student athletes at Highland High School and Highland Middle School.
Johnson, AT, ATC, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from The Ohio State University where he completed clinical rotations with OSU athletic teams, as well as an internship with the New England Patriots. Prior to joining Highland, he was the athletic trainer at Woodridge High School. Bernazzoli, AT, ATC, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Defiance College and a Masters of Education in Exercise Science.
According to Highland Athletic Director Nick Ranallo, the district is excited to offer these expanded services to students, in addition to an onsite speed and strength coach, also made possible through the partnership with Akron Children’s Hospital. “These additional services solidify our commitment to providing the highest level of care, injury prevention and treatment to our student athletes. We are happy to have Mike and Chrissy join the Highland team and are confident they will work to prevent, manage and quickly treat injuries should any occur.”
