Several Highland High School student-athletes signed their letter of intent on May 9 to attend and play sports for their chosen college. Congratulations to the following seniors:

Lucas King will attend Washington and Lee University in Virginia, where he will play football and study international business. Lucas is an All-Suburban League Honorable Mention, four-year Scholar Athlete and two-year varsity letterman. He was also a member of Highland’s Track & Field Team, throwing shot put and discus. He boasts a 4.33 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society, Ohio Teen Ambassador Board, President of Student Council, yearbook staff, St. Baldrick’s volunteer, as well as a volunteer for Holy Martyrs Church Youth Group. He is the son of Jeff and Donna King of Granger Township.

Grace Fillinger will join the softball team at Heidelberg University and plans to major in psychology and criminology. She is a Scholar Athlete and was named 2nd Team All-Conference. She is the daughter of Craig and Lisa Fillinger of Hinckley Township.

Bill Keller will attend Mount Union where he will join the baseball team and study business. He is a three-year varsity letterman and two-time varsity captain. In 2016, he was named District Championship Winning Pitcher. He holds a 3.8 GPA and is the son of Bill Keller and Joanne Renner of Montville Township.

Alexandra Pasco will join the softball team at Mount Union where she plans to major in accounting and pre-law. Alexandra is a three-year varsity letter winner, three-time Scholar Athlete and was named 2nd Team All-Suburban League and 2017 Suburban Academic Honors. She was an instrumental part of the 2016-17 Lady Hornets as they captured the Suburban League Title. She holds a 3.7 GPA and is a member of the Highland Choir and Latin Club, as well as a volunteer for Victory Gallop and Youth Ministry. She is the daughter of Brian and Meredith Pasco of Sharon Township.

Alexa Yuschak will join the cheerleading squad at Ashland University where she will major in early childhood education. Alexa is a three-year member of the Highland Varsity Cheer Squad and is team captain. She has a 3.6 GPA and is a member of the HHS Spirit Club, Sparkle Cheer and Latin Club. She is the daughter of Bob and Natalie Yuschak of Montville Township.

Emily Lyon will join the basketball team at Baldwin Wallace University and plans to major in business. Emily is a three-year varsity letter winner in basketball and four-year varsity letterman in track. In addition, she is four-time Scholar Athlete, was named 2nd Team All-Suburban League and 1st Team All-Medina County. She served as the Lady Hornets team captain this season. She has a 3.8 GPA and is a member of VOFT and the Key Club. She is the daughter of Kevin and Amy Lyon of Sharon Township.

Sam Zeleznik will attend Ohio Northern University where he will join the baseball team and study mechanical engineering. He is a four-time Scholar Athlete and is captain of the varsity baseball team this season. He holds a 3.9 GPA and is a member of Student Council. He is the son of Steve and Barb Zeleznik of Hinckley Township.

Alyssa Sabol will attend the University of Findlay where she will join the volleyball team and study psychology. She is a four-time Scholar Athlete and two-year varsity letterman. She holds a 3.7 GPA and is the daughter of Steve and Crystal Sabol of Wadsworth Township.
